Water gardens (or ponds) include a basin lined with a waterproof membrane, a pump for circulating water via a waterfall, a mechanical (skimmer) and biological (Biofalls) filtration system, rocks and gravel, aquatic plants and fish.  In order to enjoy your water garden in the evening, you can install submersible LED lights inside the basin and waterfall!
